'The Hunger Games' casting crew found Cressida in the person of 'Game of Thrones' star Natalie Dormer - Lionsgate announced her official portrayal of the role for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' Parts 1 and 2 via Twitter on Thursday.
The English actress is already set to take part in the final two-part adaptation of the final installment in Suzanne Collins's well-received trilogy of books. She is to play as a vigorous filmmaker who trails Katniss Everdeen's heroic exploits, to document her work for the purpose of overthrowing the vile capitol government.
Natalie Dormer is best known for her role as Margaery Tyrell, the future-wife of King Jeoffrey played by Jack Gleeson on HBO's 'Game of Thrones.' She had recently appeared in 'Captain America: The First Avenger' as a small supporting character. Dormer also appeared in Showtime's 'The Tudors,' and now that she is taking on a bigger role compared to the former, will she give justice to the box office trilogy's fans?
D.B. Weiss, the brain behind 'Game of Thrones' and David Benioff, one of the show's executives, said that Natalie was a very promising and strong actress, making her the perfect person to land the role of Margaery, adding that because of this, they had decided to expand her role in the series compared to what George R.R. Martin, author of the books that inspired the series, originally wrote.
'Catching Fire' director Francis Lawrence will be directing the final two-part installment of the trilogy.
Additionally, Jennifer Lawrence will reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen once again. Her character will lead the Panem district to rebel against the tyrannical Capitol. However, she must also figure other important matters out including the people she can trust and the things she ought to do as the war escalates to a dramatic apex.
"Mokingjay - Part 1" will be officially released on November 21, 2014, and the "Part 2" of the final installment will be released on November 20, 2015.
The first installment "Hunger Games" earned a gross profit of $700 million worldwide. Its sequel "catching Fire" will open on November 22.
