"The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker 2" is said to focus on a more land-based setting. However, the released of this sequel was cancelled by Nintendo.

As per IGN, the design manager as well as enemy designer of "Wind Waker," Satoru Takizawa says in an interview; they already begun some steps in developing "Wind Waker 2." However, they can not ignore the demand of the game to be more Ocarina-like.

In addition, "Wind Waker 2" will be more likely to have land-based setting; so that, Link's character will ride a horse that runs across the roads. But then, his character while riding on horseback will not fit his proportion very well. He is too short, and his version of adult Toon Link would not also fit either. The team though, ended up in making him tall to be more realistic.

However, this is also the reason why Nintendo cancelled the release of "Wind Waker 2." According to Nintendo Everything, there are a lot of demand for growing Link to make him more realistic; and how he would fit in riding horse. Another thing, the high-budget is needed as this live-action fantasy became big. Nintendo ended up with the decision to change everything (they decided switch to "Twilight Princess"). The illustrator - Yusuke Nakano - made a way on how to create the new design of Link.

Reportedly, rather than making a sequel of "Wind Waker," the team focused in developing "Twilight Princess." Link's proportion is more realistic while riding a horse, and he also has the ability to turn into wolf as well.

To end this, Nintendo cancelled the sequel of Wind Waker, and made Twilight Princess more realistic instead.

On the other hand, Jobs & Hire previously reported about "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," that the release date will be delayed and it will not be part of switch launch lineup.
