On his recent interview with Variety, Ian Somerhalder says he's been the busiest with the final season of "Vampire Diaries", his producer work and his advocacies on environmental awareness.
The 37-year-old actor, model and director currently has a lot on his plate as more projects come his way. He tries to keep everything balanced to give equal attention to his career and passion while he ignores the rumors that link him to co-star Nina Dobrev.
Somerhalder follows up on the recent announcement of his and wife Nikki Reed's Rare Birds Production Company sealing a deal with Warner Bros. TV, as reported by Deadline. He said they are planning to produce shows of different genres and themes to cater to a wide variety of audiences. He is excited to focus on this aspect of his career and said he feels lucky to have worked with the best people in the industry.
Part of Somerhalder's plans also includes his environmental initiatives as the actor expressed his belief that humans are now on the verge of destroying nature. "Our greatest challenge of humanity is climate disruption," he told Variety.
He also mentioned his work with the documentary series "Years of Living Dangerously" and how it has become a huge factor in his professional development at present. The series garnered an overwhelming response from its audience as well.
Meanwhile, how does he feel about ending "Vampire Diaries"? The actor said he is grateful for how far the show has gone and how a lot of people kept on supporting it. All he wants is "to end it on a good note."
When asked whether he knew how the story would end on the final episode, he said he has absolutely no idea. He was very open in saying what he think should happen with the characters, though. He believes all the bad guys have already caused too much trouble and should just completely go away.
Regarding the rumored comeback of Nina Dobrev, Somerhalder likewise said he has no idea. What he thinks is more important is developing the characters on the story while keeping the audience happy.
