Hayden Panettiere's guesting on the 'Late Show with David Lettermen' on Wednesday may be best remembered for her new bangs' debut. Aside from that, Hayden Panettiere might want to forget that Letterman actually butchered her name on national TV, Huffington Post reported Thursday.

At the beginning of the show, Hayden was seen pulling the curtain back prior to entering the set to tease the show's host, David Letterman. And although Panetterie was up for surprising her fans with the new hairdo, the 24-year-old Hollywood star seemed to be more surprised on how David mispronounced her last name into "Panettier-EE," a common mistake some might say.

To kill the sufficient awkwardness on the host's mistake, Hayden Panettiere spontaneously pointed out the cue card the staff of the show prepared for Letterman - one with a noticeably large period after the "R" on Hayden's last name.

"There's a big period after the 'R.'" Hayden told David.

Letterman immediately apologized to the young actress, and did a few more on the course of the interview.

Nevertheless, Hayden Panettiere told him that it was okay, adding, "After Regis [Philbin], you can do no wrong," she told him. "He always said, 'Hayden Planetarium.' Every time."

At the end of the interview, Letterman addressed the actress by calling her "Hayden Planetarium."

However, the banter over Letterman's mispronunciation of Hayden's name wasn't the talk of the town in the blogosphere, as website and blogs were flooded with articles and posts about her rather "new blunt bangs."

ABC News stated that Hayden's hairdo transformation was quite far from her typical laid-back boho hairstyle.

Many speculated that Panettiere's new bangs might have something to do with her ABC's 'Nashville' role as Juliette Barnes. The new season of the show premieres on Sept. 25, so perhaps until then her fans will have to wait and see if this answers why Hayden got a major hairdo makeover.
