Supercell has set December 19-23 as the launch date for its much-awaited December 2016 Update for "Clash of Clans." However, out of the many features rumored to be included in the December Patch, it seems only the Shipwreck has been confirmed. Tough blow for "Clash of Clans" players.

The December 2016 Update for "Clash of Clans," widely regarded as the best mobile game in the business for a number of years now, was first reported by Jobs & Hire while sifting through the "Clash of Clans" forums. The website All Clash confirmed this report by providing a projected launch date for the December Patch. However, the report also stated that only the Shipwreck is almost certainly included in the annual December update.

The online community has been buzzing around with rumors since the end of the "Clash of Clans" Halloween event. Rumors started to circulate that "Clash of Clans" is slated to receive its most massive update in recent "Clash of Clans" memory. With "Pokemon GO" refusing to relinquish its grip on the top spot in the mobile gaming industry, "Clash of Clans" has to do something really special to dislodge the augmented-reality location-based game.

Last November, Jobs & Hire reported that a leak from Supercell revealed that a Red Barbarian King, a Red Archer Queen, a Wizard-vs-Goblin battle feature, a host of sea-themed creatures, and the Shipwreck feature are going to be introduced to "Clash of Clans" via its annual December update. The December 2016 Update was confirmed by Supercell but the game developer has been stingy with details concerning the upcoming December patch.

This silence from Supercell has created more rumors regarding the new upcoming update. Supercell released a Hog Rider 360-Degree video that spawned new rumors that "Clash of Clans" is about to receive a Virtual Reality (VR) Feature akin to the augmented-reality feature of the "Pokemon GO."

Meanwhile, the website Neurogadget has reported a possible sequel to "Clash of Clans" to be released in 2017. When these rumors are considered in a logical manner, the VR feature would fit right in into the "Clash of Clans 2" game about to be released by Supercell. Since the first "Clash of Clans" game is played on a mobile platform, having a VR feature incorporated in the original "Clash of Clans" is almost near impossible.

Also, with the Apple's Product RED Event concluding last December 6, 2016, the Red Barbarian King leak may have been misinterpreted. The RED Event is an annual event that promotes AIDS awareness. This year however, the Barbarian King statue was adorned with red markings, hence, the Red Barbarian King.

While information from the corner of Supercell remains elusive, fans are keeping their fingers crossed that these rumors regarding the Red Barbarian King and VR feature are unfounded. After all, "Clash of Clans" players have stuck to the game for a long time and they deserve the best December Update ever.
