HBO's newest acclaimed sci-fi series "Westworld" made ratings jump higher than expected for the box office network. While "Westworld" has yet to come par with "Game of Thrones," series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy said the latter had a huge role in their decision to go with HBO -- and towards their series' success.
According to iTech Post, Jonathan Nolan committed to HBO after seeing "Game of Thrones." He said he and co-producer Lisa Joy knew they could trust HBO to deliver "Westworld" flawlessly as the network allowed "Game of Thrones" to use trivial racy and violent scenes that deliver the artistic mark and driven narrative required by their story.
Nolan said HBO's experience and success working on "Game of Thrones" allowed them to know the extent of ambitiousness "Westworld" required to perfectly execute. He admitted that technically, "Westworld's" production is similar to "Game of Thrones."
Fans have been raving about "Westworld's" season one ending and the entire season itself. The universe itself -- along with AIs having "consciousness" -- is the most terrifying aspect. According to Nautilus, AIs will be built in the future and can learn to become advanced both in physical and mental capabilities as portrayed in the series.
While "Westworld's" success and emotionally involving plot and plot twists sends fans into a frenzy and statistics running high, not everyone is pleased. According to io9 writer Beth Elderkin, the "big reveals" seemed obvious. She said that the cast was even spoiling the first season through Dubsmash.
Season 2 is set for 2018. According to Ed Harris -- who plays one of the most crucial characters in the series -- he had spoken to producer Jonathan Nolan who confirmed there would be a second season. Harris confirmed "10 more episodes" and that "I (Harris) will be involved" as the well-known and crucial plot-twister "Man in Black."
