A one-year-old boy was shot in the head on Sunday evening, but his father has decided not to cooperate in the investigation, although police have already told him that he was the intended target, Daily Mail reported Monday.

One-year-old Antiq Hennis was being pushed through a stroller by his parents across the road near the Marcus Garvey Complex, which is situated in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Brooklyn, New York, when he was suddenly shot in the head at around 7:20 p.m.

Reports stated that although the young toddler was rushed to the hospital he immediately died due to the critical shot in the left side of his head.

Gina Gamboa, an eye witness, told the New York Daily News: "[The father] was screaming "My baby got shot". He was going crazy."

"The baby's chest was moving, but his head was tilted to the side. There was blood all over the stroller," Gamboa added.

Police said that the shooter was not aiming at the one-year-old and claimed that it was rather his father Anthony Hennis the shooter wanted to kill.

Anthony Hennis was reportedly involved in several extensive crimes. His residents even claimed that they know who exactly Anthony is and declared that they have been working with the police to catch him.

Hennis has records of more than 20 arrests in Pennsylvania and in New York for weapons possession, illegal use of narcotics, car theft, and assault.

Meanwhile, detectives speculate that the shooter was trying to get even with Hennis after a recent dispute.

NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said earlier that Hennis is refusing to cooperate in the investigation."

"He has not been cooperative with us. He has not answered questions. We're still trying to obviously determine his contacts - and he has an extensive arrest record so we are looking into his relationships," Kelly said. "We have some leads and are aggressively following them."

On the other hand, Anthony's wife said nothing about the incident after thanking the supporters of the case.

Police said that four shots were fired and only one hit Antiq's head.

"This senseless foolishness in Brownsville has got to stop," Bishop Willie Billips, who took the parents of the dead one-year-old to the hospital, said. "'[I'm] sick and tired... a one-year-old baby ... I can't sleep after that."

"I'm furious about what I've seen, enraged." Billips added.

The one-year-old shot's aunt, Cheryl Steels told ABC 7 that Antiq was just learning how to walk and how to speak, and that the toddler likes to play with their family dog.

Cops have already issued a $12,000 reward for those, who can provide information on the whereabouts of the shooter.
