'Space Battleship Yamato 2202' Pays Homage to 1978 Farewell Film in New Art

On Wednesday, the official website of the Uchū Senkan Yamato 2202: Ai no Senshi-tachi (Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love or Star Blazers 2202: Warriors of Love) anime sequel project revealed a new visual and ticket pre-order bonus.
Pre-ticket orders will start on December 17. The ones who purchase tickets will receive a B2-size poster and tickets with art that serves as an homage to the 1978 "Farewell Space Battleship Yamato" anime's key visual. (Both that anime and Yamato 2202 have the same subtitle of "Warriors of Love.") It's a generous offer while supplies last.
The anime has opened its teaser last month. The film will show in a two-week inadequate engagement in 15 theaters in Japan. On the same day at the theaters that are screening, the film's limited edition Blu-ray Disc will go on sale. The project is a seven-part theatrical anime project, and the film will premiere on February 25 2017.
On February 25, the first film is also getting a simultaneous digital release on Amazon Video, Tsutaya TV, Hikari TV, PlayStation Video, Bonobo, and Rakuten ShowTime for a fee. It will be available then to rent digitally starting on March 11, and will ship on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on March 24.
Houko Kuwashima and Daisuke Ono will appropriately reiterate their roles from the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime as Susumu Kodai in and Yuki Mori.
Fafner and Fafner EXODUS director and storyboard writer for Star Blazers 2199, Nobuyoshi Habara, is directing the new anime, and Harutoshi Fukui who originally wrote the novel Mobile Suit Gundam UC, and did the screenplay for Harlock: Space Pirate, is writing the scripts for the film.
The son of late Yoshinobu Nishizaki, Shoji Nishizaki is the executive producer of the film, who also in fact the producer of Star Blazers 2199 planning, and Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection. Still his father is credited with the original work.
Furthermore, Makoto Kobayashi is serving as assistant director. Nobuteru Yuki is the character designer, the mechanical designers are JunichirÅ Tamamori and Yasushi Ishizu, and Akira Miyagawa is composing the music.
Space Battleship Yamato 2199 series whose creator are Leiji Matsumoto and Yoshinobu Nishizaki is originally from 1974 Space Battleship Yamato series. From 2012 to 2013, the series premiered in Japan as a series of seven movies shown theatrically,with four episodes for each series (except for the first movie, which only shows the first and second episode).
On April 2013, the series began its airing on Japanese television. A compilation film of the series opened in Japan on October 2014 with the title "UchÅ« Senkan Yamato 2199: Tsuioku no KÅkai"(Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Voyage of Remembrance), additionally a new film that continues the story opened in Japan in December 2014, with the title UchÅ« Senkan Yamato 2199: Hoshi-Meguru Hakobune (Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Star-Voyaging Ark).
Star Blazers, was adapted for American television in 1979 originally from the Japanese series Space Battleship Yamato I.
