A rumor is abound that Jennifer Aniston is being urged to quit Hollywood after her newest film “Office Christmas Party” was a disappointment. This is, however, false and the actress is not leaving the industry anytime soon.
Gossip Cop reached out to a source connected to the actress and confirmed that the rumors calling for the actress to end her career are untrue. It is all “nonsense” says the source.
This headline comes after an article published by Celeb Dirty Laundry which claimed that critics have panned the film and scathingly criticized and urged Aniston (“Horrible Bosses,” “Friends”) to quit Hollywood for her performance, as well as for her history of flopped movies.
From among the critiques it cited, however, not one contained a call for the Golden Globe winner to quit. All were about the film itself, saying that some critics called it “witless and stale comedy” and “a frenetic grab bag of strained shtick.”
Indeed, Aniston’s film is a disappointment, that much of the rumor, and of the infamous article as well, is true. Office Christmas Party was released a week ago and has so far scored a 43% on Rotten Tomatoes with a top critic calling it “a hopeless muddle. A joyless, laughless…affair.”
Furthermore, other reviews that touch on Aniston do not call for her to leave the industry but are rather deploring the writing of her character and how she isn’t written to be as entertaingly bad as her other similar character in “Horrible Bosses.” A full cast of comedians apparently cannot save the film from itself.
The film is currently showing in theaters and stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Vanessa Bayer, Jillian Bell, Rob Corddry, Kate McKinnon, T.J. Miller, Oliva Munn, Randall Park, Sam Richardson, and Courtney B. Vance. Go see for yourself if the critiques are anything to go by and decide if Jennifer Aniston really does need to leave Hollywood.
