Michael Douglas, amidst the heat of his and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones' marriage crises, finally opened up to the press on Monday in Berlin, Yahoo! reported Tuesday.
After their reported separation, Oscar-winning actor, Michael Douglas, spoke in public for the first time on the issue that he and his wife Catherine are allegedly putting an end to their almost 13 years of being married.
Douglas was attending a promotion for his HBO film 'Behind the candelabra' in Germany when he talked about the issue and insisted that their marriage, let alone their relationship is still intact.
"I have a crisis at home? No, I think the press has a crisis," Douglas said to the reporters. "We, we are fine. My wife and I are, are fine. We take a temporary separation, but the press, it gives you stuff to write about."
Although the actor has been silent about the issue until now, his representative as well as Catherine's had already confirmed earlier to OMG! about their rumored separation.
"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment," their representatives announced.
Then, there were also reports stating that Catherine's maid-of-honor had already confirmed about her emotional and mental struggle on their recent separation.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones got married in 2000 and have faced a lot of issues and troubles within their almost 13-year-old married life.
Catherine was reportedly diagnosed of having bipolar II disorder while Michael was reportedly diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010.
Recent reports even stated that the Michael Douglas' battle against HPV triggered his wife's mental disorder.
Meanwhile, Michael's son with ex-wife Diandra Douglas, Cameron, had been involved in drug addiction and was sentenced to five years in prison in 2010, which was doubled to 10 years after he was caught using drugs while still incarcerated.
