Legions of Scarlett Johansson's male fans let out a collective groan after definitive reports surfaced of her engagement to French journalist Romaine Dauriac.

The actress, 28, and the journalist, 31, after dating for 10 months, admittedly a "whirlwind relationship" according to a source.

Rumors had been circulating as early as February of this year when Johansson was spotted with an enormous diamond ring, but had at the time been "absolutely not engaged," passing off the ring as merely another decorative bauble. However, earlier this week, rumors of the actress' possible second trip down the aisle surfaced when the blonde bombshell and her dashing dapper beau walked down the red carpet at the 2013 Venice Film Festival wearing a stunning black gown-and a rather large diamond ring. Johansson might have thought to distract onlookers with her cleavage baring gown and eye-catching Bvlgari High Statement necklace and turning the ring so that only the band was visible, but several hawk eyed photographers have quickly snatched up more than enough shots of the beautiful Art Deco ring.

This will be Scarlett Johansson's second marriage, following her previous marriage to actor Ryan Reynolds, which lasted from 2008 to 2010. Reynolds has since remarried last year, with Green Lantern costar Blake Lively, and if this is a sign that one half of the former relationship is definitely moving on, then the remaining half is certainly doing so as well.

Scarlett Johansson, meanwhile, has been reported to say that she enjoys the married life. However, she had not been so keen about doing it again, as she told Elle UK in January.

When asked about children, Johansson said that she does not want children any time soon, and that working and being in a functional relationship, are all that is important to her at the moment.
