Donald Trump announced that he will be focusing on his duties as the President of the United States. Trump assured the public that there will be no business deals after his inauguration.
Before the election, Donald Trump is already a renowned business magnate in the US. His convoluted business interest became the major concern of the people during his campaign up until his victory. Trump updated that he is willing to leave his business office before his term officially starts. Through a series of tweets, he also reiterated that he wants to focus more on his national responsibilities.
"Even though I am not mandated by law to do so, I will be leaving my businesses before January 20th so that I can focus full time on the Presidency," Trump wrote on a late night of Monday. "Two of my children, Don and Eric, plus executives, will manage them. No new deals will be done during my term(s) in office."
According to the Business Insider, further details regarding this matter will be announced in January. Though, it is not definite when Donald Trump will hold a press conference. Following the announcement, people are in question whether he will entirely dispossess himself from his various assets or not.
Donald Trump, however, promised to give up the management and control of the business. He said that the presidency is more important at the moment. "The law's totally on my side. The president can't have a conflict of interest," he said. "My company's so unimportant to me relative to what I'm doing."
Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported that his statements have opened the grounds for a debate. Experts are now analyzing how the business will operate without new deals and business affairs.
Since there is a law that disallows the president to reveal information about their personal finances, people are curious as to how he plans to maintain the transparency of his business. Thus, people hope that there will be no conflict of interest. Trump is still trying to gain the confidence of the people.
For now, people have to rely on his statements until clarifications arrive. Donald Trump said he will have a press conference in the "near future".
