DICE excellently revealed more details on the upcoming "Battlefield 1" update. The developer stated in a blog post, They come up in adding the game's first free DLC map (Giant's Shadow), a new weapon (Grenade Crossbow), and the update will add up a spectator mode.

Very much alike with other games. Battlefield 1's now have a spectator mode that lets you watch a live match as an observer. As a benefit of an observer, you can switch between first- and third-person camera views, or use a bird's eye view camera to see a wider look at the battlefield. Also, there is a "Free Cam" option that you can use to move wherever you want on the map.

Apart of that, the new Battlefield 1 update is a new option for Custom Games. This limits all classes to using one rifle--their class' starting one, when put toggled on. "These weapons are not equipped with optics, and are intended to provide players with gameplay inspired by the WW1 trenches," DICE said.

Also, The new Battlefield 1 update, changes shotgun balance. DICE said the goal is to "[even] out advantages and disadvantages of each shotgun type."

Some shotguns were too powerful at "certain distances," in that case, DICE is lowering the range for buckshot variants of the M97 Trench Gun, Model 10-A, and Sawed Off Shotgun. All in all, the maximum one-hit kit distance, will be reduced.

In addition, the syringe cooldown for medics is being tweaked, as are elements like sprinting and spawning into a landship, though, there are no details how these are changing were provided. However, DICE will share the full patch notes soon, when the patch goes live. We'll get report back then with the details. In the other hand, EA DICE showed off the map, weapon and more during their livestream event on Dec 12. On December 13, The Giant's Shadow map and grenade crossbow weapon arrived for Battlefield Premium members; everyone else gets the content on December 20.

Looking forward into the Battlefield 1's first paid expansion, "They Shall Not Pass", comes out in March 2017.
