Allan Thicke passed away on Tuesday, December 13, at the age of 69. The TV icon, best known as Jason Seaver on 'Growing Pains, reportedly suffered a heart attack and was transported to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
It was TMZ that first broke the news and according to them the incident took place while the actor was playing hockey with one of his sons, Carter. A representative of the actor confirms his death to US Weekly and a source said that his other son, Robin Thicke, rushed to be with him.
Born in Canada, the actor was a music composer and a producer before becoming famous as a talk show host in his native country on 'The Alan Thicke Show' from 1980 to 1983. Yahoo! reported that he received his first nomination at the Emmy Awards in 1977 for 'The Barry Manilow Special.' He continued to host some of the 90's popular shows like 'Three's a Crowd' and 'Pictionary.' Thicke likewise starred in 'The Growing Pains Movie' as well as in 'Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers'.
His latest appearances were on the new NBC hit show, 'This Is Us' and in 'Fuller House'. He even took to Twitter expressing his excitement over the latest season of 'Fuller House,' just hours before news of his death broke. He also featured in 'How I Met Your Mother' and in 'The Bold and the Beautiful'.
Fans probably will remember him the most as Dr. Jason Seaver in 'Growing Pains'. Meanwhile, they might be delighted to know that Jobs & Hire has listed 'Fuller House' in the latest batch of movies and TV series coming to Netflix this December.
Thicke is survived by wife, Tanya, and his adult children Brennan, Carter, and singer Robin Thicke of 'Blurred Lines'.
