Grammy winner Bruno Mars may be set up to perform in the Super Bowl half time show, according to a source that has preferred to remain anonymous, due to no formal announcements having been made.

The Super Bowl XLVIII will be set for next year, February two, at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey-an open air stadium known for being in an area that is highly susceptible to cold weather and snowstorms.

The well anticipated sports event will also be held just miles away from the Big Apple-very close proximity to the headquarters of many media moguls and advertising and branding behemoths, all of whom are anticipating various potential marketing tie ins with the game.

National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell has taken note of this excitement, saying there is more buzz in this Super Bowl than any in recent history.

The half time performance will be a major event for Bruno Mars, born Peter Hernandez. Half time shows are known to have drawn more than 100 million television viewers all over the United States.

Mars, 27, was honored for Best Male Video and Choreography for Treasure at last month's MTV Video Music Awards. It is perhaps the song that he will perform this year.

Pop Diva Beyonce starred in the most recent half time show, held in New Orleans. Half time sponsor Pepsi had hyped the performance in a massive crowd sourcing campaign prior to the game. It had asked consumers to send photos that would introduce Beyonce's performance, and received over 12,000 responses. Much of the 600 fan submitted images were used in the half time video.

Other recent halt-time performers at the NFL championship game include Madonna in 2012, the Black Eyed Peas in 2011 along with Usher and Slash, The Who in 2010, and Bruce Springsteen with E Street band in 2009.
