A congratulations is in order for Sir Patrick Stewart!
The 73 year old actor has married long time girlfriend Jazz singer Sunny Ozell, over the weekend. Stewart has posted a picture to his Twitter feed of his and Ozell's faces happily peering through a sea of colored balls. The picture is captioned thus: "Yes, married."
The recently married couple met in 2008, after meeting while Stewart was performing in Macbeth at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. They began dating soon thereafter in 2009, with Stewart purchasing a home in Park Slope, Brooklyn in August 2012, and the pair then moved in together.
They were engaged in March of this year, with Stewart's longtime friend and fellow Knight of the Order of the British Empire Sir Ian McKellen, who announced quite humorously on the Jonathan Ross Show that "I'm marrying Patrick," adding later after pausing for effect, that he will be officiating the ceremony for his friend.
"I did my part." Said Ian McKellen on his Facebook page, posting a picture of him looking very stern and solemn, albeit rather shaggy haired, holding up a Doctor of Divinity Degree.
It will very likely be a short honeymoon for both Stewart and Ozell, with Stewart returning to work soon after. He will be set to appear along with McKellen, on both the Harold Pinter Drama "No Man's Land," and Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" the previews of which are to begin next month over at the Broadway's Cort Theater.
The two old friends will also be appearing in an upcoming X-Men movie as friends turned rivals Professor X and Magneto, who are both the powerful heads of opposing mutant factions, with the former focusing on benevolent causes and the latter insisting on rebellion and domination over the rest of the human race.
