“Legends of Tomorrow” is currently on hiatus, and the show will return with the back half of its second season next month. The series’ winter finale saw the Legion of Doom as they have finally assembled, and when the show continues, it is expected that the Legends will have their hands full as they deal with the evil foursome. But will the Legion of Doom bring about the return of a certain DC character?
According to Inverse, the mid-season finale of “Legends of Tomorrow” opens the possibility of John Constantine’s (Matt Ryan) return to the Arrowverse. Episode 8 saw Reverse-Flash (Eobard Thawne), Damien Darkh (Neal McDonough), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) in search of the Spear of Destiny, which has the power to rewrite history. The media outlet notes that with the villains after the mystical relic, this could make Constantine’s return a possibility as the Hellblazer is an expert on such objects.
It was back in November 2015 when Ryan reprised his role as the chain-smoking, trench coat-wearing antihero on “Arrow” six months after “Constantine” was canceled by NBC. As previously reported by Jobs & Hire, there are rumors that “Constantine” is going to be picked up for a second season by The CW after the show’s first season began streaming on The CW Seed, but no confirmation has been made by the network.
While The CW, DC, and Warner Bros. are keeping mum about the show and John Constantine’s fate, fans are aware that Ryan is more than willing to return to the role as he recently voiced the character for the animated movie “Justice League Dark.” The actor also makes frequent appearances on numerous fan conventions where he talks about the show and being John Constantine.
However, the 35-year-old is about to star in a new British series called “The Halcyon,” which premieres next year on the UK’s ITV. Speaking with Digital Spy, Ryan said that he sees the potential of the drama and that it has the possibility to run for several seasons. With Ryan being busy with his new TV show, there’s a chance that John Constantine won’t make his return anytime soon to “Legends of Tomorrow” or any other show on the Arrowverse.
“Legends of Tomorrow” season 2 returns to The CW in January 2017.
