Disney and Lucasfilm's latest "Star Wars" feature "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is an enthralling war story that entertains through its narrative, characters and clandestine warfare by a small band of warriors. Despite "Rogue One" being memorable and powerful, one misses the lightsabers used by Jedi and Sith warriors in the series; a weapon that has become quite iconic for the "Star Wars" franchise. If you missed them, a manufacturer creates real-life lightsaber replicas that are so accurate anyone would want one.
Ultra Saber specializes in making real-life lightsabers that are -- while far from being built with a special metal for its handle and a powerful perennially energized crystal behind the blade's laser -- quite durable and yes, it does make pinging sounds when it hits a hard surface. According to Ars Technica, Ultra Saber had reached out to them before "Rogue One" premiered to introduce their realistic lightsabers.
The tech news website gear and gadgets writer Sam Makovech said the lightsaber is quite expensive starting below $100 that features only lights. Fans who would like light and noise may have to spend about $150 for additional features and customized hilts. A fully customized replica could total $434 according to Makovech's estimate.
Lightsabers have been iconic since the start of "Star Wars" franchise where famed hero Luke Skywalker in "Episode V: A New Hope" finds a lightsaber for the first time until his final battle with his father Darth Vader at the end of the film. In the animated "Star Wars: Clone Wars", Jedi masters teach "Padawans" at a young age to use "the force" to construct such. According to Forbes Contributor Kevin Anderton, lightsabers were not explained thoroughly in the series and he wrote about the results of his research into the subject.
"Rogue One" only featured lightsabers by the end of the film. [Spoiler warning]To make sure the stolen Death Star plans do not end up with the rebels, Darth Vader boards the Rebel Alliance warship that collected it. The iconic villain appeared horrifying as he relentlessly slays all rebel opposition using the force and his lightsaber.
