"House Of Fools" and "Tango & Cash" Russian Director Andrei Konchalovsky will not permit theaters featuring his film to sell audiences popcorn as he believes his films are not for those who eat popcorn. Movie director peculiarities can be unique and truly strange such as an obsession for clockwork devices and actor harassment on set-- for better results.
According to AV Club, Russian Movie Director Andrei Konchalovsky does not want theaters featuring his film to sell popcorn to audiences. He said, "My films are not for those who eat popcorn" and that he will "try to make sure that popcorn is not sold at screenings of my films." While there are no known reports of the severity of seriousness director Konchalovsky possesses regarding popcorn, he had protested against it as a symbol of the "Hollywood blockbuster system."
Directors -- like artists and musicians -- have known strange peculiarities that perhaps play a huge role in developing their films. Most notable is the strangeness of "The Shining" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" director Stanley Kubrick "tortured" his actors especially lead actress for "The Shining" Shelley Duvall. The director lashed at her for minor mistakes and she endured a huge number of takes -- especially that baseball bat scene -- to make her look tired and frail, the way he wanted her to be in the film.
According to Vulture, ten other directors have such strange peculiarities. "Inception" and highly-acclaimed modern Batman series director Christopher Nolan is said to have a thing for dead wives. In both "Inception" and "Memento," a dead wife has driven the lead actor's motive. The list also shows "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Pacific Rim" Director Guillermo Del Toro loves clockwork devices that he features them in his films.
Hollywood directors are not the only ones with certain strangeness. Some actors, like Megan Fox, has her own peculiarity. The seemingly perfect model has some uniqueness that makes her more attractive on and off screen.
