Tesla and Space X CEO Elon Musk Accepts Offer to Join Advisory Council of President-elect Donald Trump

Elon Musk has decided to join the advisory council of President-elect Donald Trump, who takes office on January 20. This was in spite of Elon Musk's statements prior to the election that shows him favoring more the losing Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Elon Musk is the founder and chief executive of Tesla Motors, Inc. and rocket company Space Exploration Technologies Corp. Others who were appointed to the council were Travis Kalanick, chief executive of Uber.

Elon Musk has dismissed President elect Trump as "not the right man for the job". Musk has also stated that "He doesn't seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States." Furthermore, he has said that the recent presidential elections were not "the finest moment in our democracy in general". It is widely known that the heads of Silicon Valley have been largely critical of Trump. Most of the CEOs have shown their support for Clinton during the recently concluded 2016 presidential elections. One of the pressing issues that the leaders fought against is Trump's advocacy to build the Muslim registry. In their open letter, around 580 employees from tech companies have given their support for immigrants and Muslim Americans.

To attend the meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 21 are the following: Elon Musk, Tim Cook of Apple, Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook, , Rometty, Alphabet CEO Larry Page and Chairman Eric Schmidt, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, , Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, Oracle co-CEO Safra Catz, and Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins.
