Dylan O'Brien suffered serious physical injuries while filming a scene for the movie "Maze Runner: Death Cure" last March 2016. Now that filming has restarted, albeit with O'Brien still not recovered completely from his car accident, Fox announced that the release date for the movie will be moved to 2018.
According to reports, Fox moved the release date back to January 12, 2018, to give Dylan O'Brien ample time to recover. The "Teen Wolf" star was seriously injured following a car accident on the "Maze Runner: Death Cure" set in British Columbia.
Given the extent of Dylan O'Brien's injuries resulting from the car accident, a Fox spokesperson announced that they have "decided to shut down" production on the film while O'Brien recovered from his injuries. O'Brien was treated for a concussion, facial fracture, and lacerations.
While Dylan O'Brien is not yet completely healed from the car accident and the consequent facial reconstruction, the actor assured everyone that he will be back to finish the film. Director Wes Ball also reassured fans that the Dylan O'Brien will be fine to return to work.
"Maze Runner: Death Cure" is the third and final installment of the "Maze Runner" trilogy. In "Maze Runner: Death Cure," Thomas, portrayed by O'Brien, and his friends are on a mission to find the cure to the "Flare." The "Flare" is a man-made disease that turns its victims into a zombie-like being whose only purpose it seems is to feed on normal humans.
Jobs & Hire reports that Dylan O'Brien is "eager to resume" his routine workouts as per O'Brien coach, Roger Juan. The same report suggests that O'Brien is still having issues with his blood pressure.
With an injury as severe as the one Dylan O'Brien received from his on-set car accident, it is amazing that O'Brien would want to complete the film. While O'Brien has not completely recovered, the movie "Maze Runner: Death Cure" will push through its 2018 release date.
