It has been three years since “Attack on Titan” left fans wanting more after its freshman run, and for a while, it seemed as though the show won’t be returning for season 2. But recently, it has been confirmed that “Attack on Titan” season 2 is officially slated to premiere next year.
According to Screenrant, Funimation, the company that acquired the rights to the animated series, has just confirmed that “Attack on Titan” season 2 will premiere in April 2017. Chief Operating Officer and Executive Producer Mike Dubois said that they are looking forward to premiering the new season on FunimationNow.
“’Attack on Titan’ is one of those rare titles that has reached true cult status with anime fans,” said Dubois in a statement. “It’s been more than three years since the last episode of ‘Attack on Titan’ season 1, and passion from its fans has not waned.”
Indeed, fans have been eagerly anticipating any news about “Attack on Titan’ season 2 as some have begun speculating about the new season’s plot. There have been rumors that the new installment will be based on some chapters of Hajime Isayama’s manga series of the same title, namely chapters “Clash of the Titans” and “Uprising Arcs.”
It has also been said that “Attack on Titan” season 2 will feature a new kind of Titan. It was said that this Titan is almost as intelligent as a human, and that it even has the ability to talk just like any other person.
