Marion "Suge" Knight was detained a few minutes passed midnight Wednesday after police pulled him over for a traffic violation in Los Angeles, but was eventually brought in due to an outstanding misdemeanor warrant issued seven months earlier, TMZ reported Sept. 11.
Authorities said Suge Knight was spotted straddling two lanes in a truck without license plates at around 12:30 a.m. just outside the Beverly Hills border.
Police Officer Sara Faden said Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, was arrested shortly after midnight near Beverly Hills, but the officer declined to give details on the reason behind the arrest.
UPI reported that the 48-year-old managed to pass a sobriety test after he was pulled over, but officers took him in on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant related to an earlier case.
The misdemeanor warrant actually refers to Suge Knight's no-show in court in February, when he was supposed to appear for driving without a license.
Meanwhile, police records showed that the rap mogul was apparently booked into county jail, but was released at around 7:20 a.m. PT after paying the $20,000 bail.
Knight is well-known for his long history of legal troubles that primarily involve probation violations as well as drug abuse.
The founder of Death Row Records had reportedly been expected in court for two traffic violations in the past for driving cars with suspended license plates.
Previous reports stated that Suge Knight had filed for bankruptcy in 2006.
Death Row Records is famous for helping rappers become big Hollywood stars. Some of the Records pride include: Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg.
