The future of the job market looks bright in the upcoming year. With the abundance of industries looking to increase their workforce, job seekers will have a wide range to choose from.
CheatSheet recently reported that the Bureau of Labor Statistics released data on jobs with the highest rate of employment. Here are the 10 job occupations that made it to the list (take note that median wage per year is based on 2015 data).
1. Wind turbine technicians
Employment of wind turbine service technicians is projected to grow 108% from 2014 to 2024. Because of this, there will also be a demand for wind turbine technicians. Anyone comfortable with working outdoors can apply and may just find that this is the right job for them.
Required education: Some college but no degree
Median wage: $51,050 per year
2. Occupational therapy assistants
This job is open to those who have the passion to help sick people recover and improve their physical condition. Therapy aides or assistants work with the full-time therapists to provide assistance to bedridden individuals.
Required education: Associate's degree, and may need to be licensed
Median wage: $54,520 per year or $26.21 per hour
3. Physical therapy assistants
Not unlike occupational therapists, this job is ideal for those who have a soft spot for the sick and ailing. Physical therapy assistants work closely with the therapists to help patients recover from an injury or illness.
Required education: Associate's degree, and may need to be licensed
Median wage: $42,980 per year or $20.66 per hour
4. Home health aides
Home health aides assist people suffering from illnesses, ailment, or disability. They typically work with older adults or in a day services program.
Required education: none, but job training is available
Median wage: $21,920 per year or $10.54 per hour
5. Nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, and nurse midwives
Based on the official website of Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for nurses is 31%, which is faster than most occupations. The job duties can vary by state and by practice, but a post-graduate degree is needed.
Required education: Master's degree
Median wage: $104,740 per year or $50.36 per hour
6. Physical therapists
Like the assistants, therapists help patients improve their movement and handle pain. This career is rife with benefits other than the pay, such as job stability, location flexibility and an opportunity to delve into business.
Required education: doctoral or professional degree
Median wage: $84,020 per year or $40.40 per hour
7. Statistician
People who work in this industry use statistical analysis and methods to interpret numbers and their impacts in the company's performance. Statisticians fix and prevent problems by analyzing trends, graphs, and figures.
Required education: Master's degree
Median wage: $80,110 per year or $38.51 per hour
8. Operations research analyst
This is another position wherein an aptitude in analysis and math becomes indispensable. These analysts also use mathematical and analytical methods to help the operations management team to solve problems.
Required education: Master's degree
Median wage: $78,630 per year or $37.80 per hour
9. Personal finance advisors
Personal finance advisors give sound information on how to handle money. They are financially literate and has a passion for teaching others to be the same.
Required education: Bachelor's degree, but long-term on-the-job training is available
Median wage: $89,160 per year or $42.86 per hour
10. Genetic counselor
Genetic counselors delve into the complex, fascinating study of the DNA. They meet with individuals or families, and help determine the risk of inherited conditions.
Required education: Master's degree
Median wage: $72,090 per year or $34.66 per hour
