Nvidia Corporation won over Intel as the top chipmaker in the industry during the CES 2017 event. With not just focusing on the gaming community, Nvidia’s CEO and Founder, Jen-Hsun Huang already has plans with budget allocated for the future of the company.
MarketWatch reported that Nvidia’s stock skyrocket with a 224 percent compared to rival chip-maker company Intel’s 5.2 percent last year. On the other hand, it’s recent quarter released reached far than expected, with 54% to $2 billion revenue increase.
“This is an indication of how hot Nvidia is right now,” principal analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, Patrick Moorhead, stated. “They are at the epicenter of all of the cool things, almost every buzz word you can think of, self-driving cars, AI, drones are likely done with deep neural network training, games ... They are this center point of some really cool stuff.”
Nvidia lives up to that statement with their swept victory at CES 2017. In addition, CNBC stated that Nvidia is also set to rival Amazon’s virtual home assistant Alexa with something of their own with the aid of Google Home’s integration. The new product called Spot has the same function as Amazon’s Alexa, but the difference is that Spot is able to hear far away commands. Huang also stated that he plans to build everything for all consumers even AI like that of Zuckerberg’s Jarvis.
Beside Spot and the new Shield TV product, Nvidia made other announcements on the Las Vegas stage as well. The first is regarding their renowned gaming platform GeForce, which will now be available on Facebook and in a cloud-based PC. Another is their streaming deals with Netflix, Amazon, Google Play and YouTube. Lastly, is their deal with Audi to collaborate on a self-driving car featuring the company’s BB8, which would be released in 2020.
As a result of the 54% gain by the company, Huang said that he would just not allocate the funds to newer gaming chips but as well as to later developments on virtual reality, self-driving cars, and artificial intelligence.
