When it comes to playing the game, professional athletes can easily ace it. However, there are a lot of athletes who are having a hard time making their business work and succeed. Former NBA player and Boston Celtics assistant coach, Walter McCarty, talks about his brand and shared an interesting business advice for entrepreneurs.

McCarty gladly shared to The Huffington Post about his recent venture, the launch of his new line of socks called “8ty2.” This interesting name came from the fact that there are 82 games in an NBA season. The socks are designed fashionably stylish and at the same time can cater the upscale market.

“There aren’t many statements we can make with our wardrobe when it comes to business professional attire,” says McCarty. He even pointed out that as a coach, most of the time he is seen sitting down, which makes it easier for everyone to see his eye-catching socks. That is when inspiration hits in for him to start his line of socks.

Walter shared that “I’ve always worn socks that stand out, and as I was getting more and more compliments on my socks. Each time there’s a game, my socks are shown on national, live TV. As I continued to get more buzz about my socks, I thought, ‘Why should I promote someone else’s brand when I could be promoting my own’.”

When it comes to promoting, advertising and marketing his business, McCarty is very precise about it. He makes sure that every detail is done the right way. Aside from that, he personally chooses the game day sock to feature. In fact, the successful growth of his brand was also influenced by his network of athletes.

McCarty’s shared a brilliant business advice and that is “Take care of today, then there will be a tomorrow — and tomorrow is going to be better.”

Meanwhile, in other NBA related news, Jobs & Hire shared that Forbes named Michael Jordan as the highest paid athlete of all-time with a net worth of $1.24 billion.
