The United States Olympic gold medallist swimmer, Ryan Lochte is now back to redeem himself after his scandalous Rio incident. Lochte is up for a clean start now that he is the new spokesman of PowerBar.
It has been known that last 2016, Lochte made headlines for the wrong reasons. There was the “Lochtegate” incident at the Rio involving Ryan and three other Olympic swimmers wherein they lied about being robbed at gunpoint during a night out. Brazilian authorities instead said that Lochte’s group vandalized a bathroom at a gas station. That incident prompted Lochte’s other endorsements such as Speedo and Ralph Lauren to let go of him.
However, the energy bar called PowerBar believes in Lochte and gave him a second chance. According to Time, the company builds a new ad campaign that shows its relationship with the Olympic swimmer and their latest line of “clean” whey protein bars. To make it more interesting the company made a very catchy tagline which says, “Clean Start.”
You can see the company’s website, PowerBarCleanStart that they started a “Clean Start Pledge” in which it will encourage consumers to pay more attention and prioritize their health through sports and exercise. “ PowerBar made a Clean Start with a better-tasting Clean Whey Bar that has 20 grams of protein. If PowerBar and Ryan Lochte can pull off a Clean Start, you can do anything” says the site.
Lochte said in a statement that he is excited for the brand’s commitment to cleaning their ingredients with the new Clean Whey products. "As I move forward in 2017 and recommit to swimming faster, I’m excited these bars will be part of my daily nutrition to provide the extra energy I need to stick to my Clean Start Pledge,” says Ryan.
Clearly, Ryan is proud of his new endorsement deal that he even posted the video on his Instagram page. His post earned hundreds of thousands of views and different comments.
Meanwhile, in other athlete’s related news, Jobs & Hire reported that former NBA star and current Boston Celtic’s assistant coach, Walter McCarty talked about his successful business venture called “8ty2.”
