Caroline Biden - the niece of Vice President Joe Biden, was taken into custody after allegedly hitting a New York City police officer, Huffington Post reported Tuesday.

Caroline Biden allegedly hit a cop, who responded to her apartment after receiving a report of Biden having a scuffle with a roommate, Police said.

Daily Mail reported that Biden was fighting with her still unidentified roommate Tuesday morning inside their Tribeca apartment.

Several reports stated that Biden and her roommate were fighting over their monthly dues for the Desbrosses Street apartment.

Authorities said they tried to break up a fight between the 26-year-old and her roommate when she allegedly scuffled with the officers instead, adding that Caroline Biden shouted at a police officer, stuck another cop, and began to resist the officers while they were trying to handcuff her.

However, police never mentioned the root cause of the fight brawl between Biden and her roommate.

Police arrested Biden on charges of obstructing governmental administration, harassment, and resisting arrest.

Vice President Biden's niece was given notice to appear in court on Oct. 29, and was released afterwards. Reports stated that Biden was immediately taken to Beth Israel Hospital after her release for undisclosed reasons.

Caroline Biden got involved in another misunderstanding in 2009. She was reportedly detained by Amtrak police due to a "misunderstanding over a train fare," an Amtrak spokeswoman said at that time.

Biden works at an Upper East Side art gallery called Higher Pictures and she has attended Georgetown University, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden refused to comment on the issue.
