The start of the year is the perfect time to upgrade and refresh your home to give you and your family a little bit of a visual treat in your living space. Though renovating and home décor can be expensive, there are a lot of simple ways that you can makeover your home for under $50.
You don’t have to be an architect or an interior designer to make your home look great for less. With a bit of creative thinking and some elbow grease, you can bring new energy and life into your home for about the price of a good pair of jeans.
Here are a few tips on how to refresh your home for under $50.
Give your front door a makeover
To do this, paint your front door a cheery color and dress the door with new hardware. Add a welcome mat and potted plants near the entrance, and you’ve got instant curb appeal for your home. A gallon of Diamond Brite paint costs only $18, while a satin nickel decorative trim door knob from Schlage costs only $7.92 on Amazon. A welcome door mat can be had for about $12, while a potted plant costs about $12. Your total? $49.92.
Upgrade your kitchen’s lighting
Replace your existing light fixture with a new one to give your kitchen a fresh look. For a whimsical look, get GetSet2Save’s Wrought Iron Canning Jar Chandelier for your kitchen for only $47.97.
Upcycle your dining room chairs
If your dining room chairs look a little worn out, make them look fabulous again by spray painting them gold. A can of gold spray paint from Rust-Oleum costs only $3.95, so have a few on hand to have enough for your chairs. Get a set of chair cushions from White Dove Home Fashions for only $29.99 for a set of 4, and you’ve got yourself an inviting space where you can host dinner parties.
Get a bookshelf
There are a lot of bookshelves on Amazon, Walmart, Target, and thrift stores that can be had for less than $50, so find one that can house your book collection, as well as a few well-chosen knick knacks.
Display some artwork
You can get good artwork for very low prices. Simply find prints on Etsy and Deviant Art, or you can have a favorite image printed at Costco and have it framed.
