The Internet Reacts After Trump Allegedly Tells Female Staffers To “Dress Like Women”

It has been only a few weeks since Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States, yet the 70-year-old’s various actions have caused people to take to the streets to protest. Now, a new report claims that Trump is requiring female staffers to dress a certain way, and the Internet is not having it.
Axios reporters Mike Allen and Jonathan Swan spoke with anonymous sources who worked on the president’s campaign trail and revealed how the mogul feels about style and how Trump thinks his staff should dress. One of the insiders said that Trump like the women who work for him to “dress like women.”
“Even when you’re in jeans, you need to look neat and orderly,” said the source.
As a result, the women who worked in Trump’s campaign field offices—who spend more time knocking on doors than attending glamorous events—allegedly felt pressure to wear dresses to impress the 70-year-old.
Social media was immediately bombarded with responses from women around the world who were offended by Trump’s alleged remarks. The “Dress Like A Woman” hashtag immediately took off and many posted photos as a way to fight back. In just a few hours, Twitter was inundated with a stream of photos showing women dressed for the jobs they hold as scientists, firefighters, soldiers, and astronauts, among others.
“Room” actress Brie Larson tweeted a photo which shows her wearing an oversized shirt and pink sneakers. It was captioned, “Director/producer/writer/academy award winner in her office with a view. I’ll dress damn well how I please thankyouverymuch #dresslikeawoman.”
Ivelisse Viruet, who served 22 years in the military, posted a photo of herself wearing her uniform and wrote, “While u were granted 5 draft deferments. I served 22 yrs. in the military. I #DressLikeAWoman, U @realDonaldTrump need 2 #actlikeapresident.”
Another Twitter user uploaded a photo of the late Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, wearing a gold bikini while strangling Jabba The Hutt in “Return of The Jedi.”
“Creepy guy telling women what to wear,” said the commenter. “You know how this ended…”
The New York Times reached out to Allen, but the reporter declined to offer any further details regarding the sources’ allegations. Trump has yet to respond to the reports.
