Sara Bareilles opened up about her song 'Brave' and Katy Perry's 'Roar' comparison, UPI reported Thursday.

Sara Bareilles finally opened up about the song comparison between her 'Brave' hit and Katy Perry's 'Roar,' saying that she does not think her song was ripped off by the other singer.

"I was stoked. I was like, 'Great,'" Bareilles said. "I was like, 'You guys want to go get [mad] about something and buy my music, that's great,'" adding that the comparisons even gave a boost to her album sales.

Perry's song, which hit airwaves in April, is currently at No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart while Bareilles' ballad, released in August, catapulted to No. 31 from No. 61 due to the widespread comparisons between their tracks.

"I don't feel like anything was taken from me artistically," Bareilles explained. "I wasn't the one having any problems with it."

Sara added that she and the 'Teenage Dream' singer are friends and they had no trouble laughing the rip-off rumors off.

"I've known Katy a long time. We are friends and she and I spoke about it," she said. "I look at it as two female artists who are releasing a message of empowerment."

"We actually talked about it," she added. "We're like, 'Should we just work on a mash-up and let everybody know we're not mad at each other?'"

Despite the positive feedback on her album sales and her positive attitude, Bareilles couldn't help but feel disappointed over her fans, who fueled the non-existent feud between her and Perry.

"To be totally honest, I was sort of disappointed in how aggressive fans were being about it," she said. "I don't promote drama in my life and competition and stuff like that."

Amid the rumors, Katy Perry reportedly tweeted a link to the video of Sara's 'Brave' even before her 'Roar' single was released, and when the controversial song comparison broke, she tweeted, "All love, everybody."

However, this is not the first time that Perry got involved into a rumored feud against another music artist. In August, rumors broke out claiming that Katy Perry and Lady Gaga were having a secret feud when their singles were released on the same dates, but Perry shoved the rumor off, saying that she and Gaga have nothing but love for each other.

"I don't have beef with her at all," Perry said at the MTV Video Music Awards. "Actually, I met Gaga in the very beginning, and we've both kind of come up at the same time and I like both the Monsters and the Katy Cats, and I like the Monster Cats too."
