Famke Janssen was found guilty of the 'Lonely Doll' controversy, where she claimed that an alleged intruder broke in to her apartment and left a copy of 'The Lonely Doll' book by her bed, Celebuzz reported Friday.
Police revealed today that 'X-Men' actress Famke Janssen was actually the culprit behind the controversial 'Lonely Doll' story, she reported in August, claiming that an intruder had broken into her New York City apartment and left a copy of 'The Lonely Doll' book on a shelf beside her bed.
Famke said back then that she didn't notice anything missing in her apartment or any sign of forced entry or event hints about the suspicious activity through surveillance footage, leading police to speculate that the bizarre story may be related to an earlier incident.
Newsmax reported that Janssen had filed a report in 2005 claiming that a fan aggravated harassment by incessantly sending her letters and photos.
Because of the earlier report, police began to suspect that the same stalker may be the culprit behind the creepy and quite bizarre 'Lonely Doll' issue.
'The Lonely Doll' a book by Dare Wright, published in 1957, features a story about a lonely doll named Edith who comes across two bear friends, who vow never to leave her no matter what. Although the story is mainly for little kids, the hidden meaning somehow tells the spooky intention of whoever left the book inside Famke's room.
Nevertheless, police are now claiming that they think that the book actually belongs to Famke after detectives found pieces of paper and to-do lists inside the book with Janssen's name on them, the New York Post reported.
"Janssen is not expected to be charged with filing a false report because she honestly believes that someone broke into her apartment and planted the book," a source told the New York Post.
Although the case has reached a rather shocking ending, many are still bothered on what made Famke make up such story.
"Was it all for attention? What's going on here? What else has she lied about for attention?" Celebuzz questioned on the real motive behind the spooky controversy.
