It took eight seasons for the Mother in How I Met Your Mother to finally show up, and now she's here, literally smuggled onto the set in a dark coat.

The mother, the central character we have all heard of, seen partially, know the existence of...and whom the entire show is supposedly built around, with the show's premise built on Old Ted telling his future children about how he met their mother. Some former fans have thrown in the towel to search for greener pastures and quicker gratification with other shows, but those who had been faithful and patient will be blessed with a clear, definite sighting of The Mother. The Mother.

The much anticipated Mother will be played by Cristin Milioti, a Tony-nominated actress (she starred in the Broadway show "Once"). She shares her experience being a well-kept production secret, saying she felt like a "secret assassin" whenever she would be smuggled into the set. She had also been unsure why the show's creators, Carter bays and Craig Thomas picked her, but thinks that it must have been her Broadway performance and their shared sense of humor that had factored in the casting decision.

Milioti has admitted that she has never seen the show prior to being cast, but had taken the time to sit down through the entire series. She says she became very emotional; adding that one of her favorite scenes was when Marshall discovered how to make slideshows and came up with "Cat Funeral."

"I had to pause the DVD player, crying, laughing-" she adds. "I just lost my mind."

Milioti has appeared in the final episode of the eighth season, in a scene where she carries her umbrella and guitar case, and buys a train ticket to Southampton, where she is going to perform in Barney and Robin's wedding. The new season will premiere on September 23; fans will just have to wait a little while longer. After all, what's another season to the eight seasons of waiting?
