The world’s richest YouTube sensation "PewDiePie" suffered a major blow because he just got fired by Disney. The 27-year-old Swedish whose real name is Felix Kjellberg is best known for his YouTube video blogging for product reviews for Nintendo, Sony PlayStation, and the likes. Kjellberg was dropped by Disney due to his anti-semitic videos that he posted on his YouTube channel.
The Wall Street Journal initially reported that Kjellberg posted nine videos on his YouTube channel since August and those include “anti-Semitic jokes or Nazi imagery.” The video that he posted on Jan. 11 wherein two men were seen laughing as they held a sign which read “Death to All Jews.” Another video that Kjellberg posted showed a man dressed like Jesus Christ saying “Hitler did absolutely nothing wrong.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maker’s spokeswoman released a statement which says, "Although Felix has created a following by being provocative and irreverent, he clearly went too far in this case and the resulting videos are inappropriate.” That led to Maker Studios’ decision to completely cut their ties with Kjellberg.
On top of the Maker Studios big decision, "PewDiePie’s" channel is no longer part of Google Preferred which happens to be its premiere advertising partner. A YouTube spokesperson also said that they have decided to cancel the release of “Scare PewDiePie Season 2” and that they already removed his channel from Google Preferred.
In Kjellberg’s Tumblr post, he explained his videos and made it clear that he is not supporting any hateful attitudes. “I make videos for my audience. I think of the content that I create as entertainment, and not a place for any serious political commentary. I know my audience understand that and that is why they come to my channel. Though this was not my intention, I understand that these jokes were ultimately offensive,” says Kjellberg.
Meanwhile, back in December, Jobs & Hire reported that “PewDiePie” has officially deleted his YouTube channel as being true to his words that he will delete it once he reaches 50 million subscriptions. Which he did, but what he actually deleted was his second account.
