Are you currently employed but are still scouring the Internet for a new job? If you are, you’re not alone, as a study recently showed that millennial professionals change jobs about four times by the time they reach their early 30s.
According to a Gallup poll, 21 percent of millennials say that they’ve changed jobs within the past year and that they show less willingness to stay in their current jobs. On why millennials are the biggest job hoppers, it was said that among many reasons, their low engagement in the workplace could be one of the biggest reasons why they seek greener pastures. The study indicates that only 29 percent of them are emotionally and behaviourally connected to the job.
As young adults search for the perfect job that will give them compelling reasons to stay, it can be hard to stay motivated during the job hunt. Here are some tips on how you can get yourself out of the motivational slump between jobs.
Be organized and keep a schedule
To stay focused on the job search, one must be organized by creating a specific to-do list every day. You can set certain goals each day. For instance, you can make it a goal to drop off at least three resumes in person at least three times a week, and the rest of the week can be dedicated to networking and getting job referrals.
Get out of the house
According to photographer and video producer Tanai Milgram (via CNBC), staying home all day can make you feel isolated and prevent you from making connections that could help you on your job search. She added that it is important for the unemployed to stay busy to keep motivated during the job hunt.
You don’t necessarily have to hang around office lobbies hoping to find people who could get you an introduction to a prospective employer. You could attend panels, meetups or events where you can meet people who can help you in your job search.
Always be at your best
Whenever you’re headed to a job interview, it is important to always be at your best as you never know if this could be your lucky day. So keep on wearing your favorite interview attire and be prepared. There’s always the chance that you could get a job offer right away.
