Samsung Galaxy S8 Update: Samsung To Push Back Upcoming Flagship Phone’s Release

There has been a lot of buzz about the Samsung Galaxy S8, as tech watchers are predicting that the Korean company is about to make a giant comeback following its disastrous Galaxy Note 7 last year. While fans are expecting the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to be released on April 21, it appears that we might have to wait just a little bit longer as it was claimed that Samsung could push back the phones’ release date.
According to reliable tipster and Venture Beat reporter Evan Blass, known as @evleaks on Twitter, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are now scheduled for release on April 28. No specific reason was given for the new release date, although it’s likely that Samsung is proceeding cautiously with this launch.
The phones have yet to be launched, and it was reported that fans will get a glimpse of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, along with a new Gear VR headset, at the Unpacked event in New York City on March 29.
Blass took to Twitter on Monday, March 6, to say that the reason for the delay could be due to both Qualcomm and Samsung achieving low yields with the production of the 10nm Snapdragon 835 and Samsung Exynos 8895 chipsets, which will be used to power the Galaxy S8.
The tipster added that this change bodes well for LG, as the company is scheduled to release its upcoming flagship, the G6, in South Korea in the coming days.
As for the Samsung handsets’ specs, it was said that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will come with QHD SuperAMOLED displays and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipsets. The S8 is said to have a 5.8-inch screen, while the S8 Plus will sport a 6.2-inch display.
The reports appear to be accurate, as Slash Leaks has recently released leaked photos of the phones, said to come from a screen protector manufacturer. The S8 and S8 Plus are expected to have 12MP main cameras and 8MP front-facing shooters, as well as built-in internal storage of 64GB.
