Ways To Liven Up A Boring Home Office

If you telecommute or run a business from your home, chances are, you spend more than half of your day in your home office. While most people who work-from-home choose to go with the most bare-bones approach to decorating, a functional and attractive home office space can be such a nice change from working in a boring corner of one’s home.
Whether you have a separate room as your home office of if you’ve just designated a spot in the living room as your workspace, there are lots of things that you can do to liven up a lackluster home office. All that’s needed is a bit of color and some well-chosen accessories, and you’ll find that working at home can be both comfortable and pleasurable every single day.
Here are a few tips on how to liven up a boring home office.
Inject a bit of color into your workspace
You can have pops of color throughout your space. If you work in a neutral corner or room, you can have accessories and an area rug in your favorite color to brighten up your home office.
Add a bit of life
Bring in a small plant or have a vase of cut flowers on your desk. There’s nothing like bringing a bit of the outdoors into your home when you want to refresh your space.
Accessorize
Choose accessories that are attractive yet functional. Swap that hard plastic chair that you’re sitting on for an ergonomic chair. Even a chair that’s upholstered in a pretty yet durable fabric will do just fine.
Get a desk set to house all of your pens and office supplies, or you can choose to keep them in a nice box. Hang a framed print or two on the walls for added inspiration.
Add a few bookshelves
Showcase your book collection in your office space, and add a few knick knacks to make your shelf look interesting.
Coral your cables and cords
Nothing is more unsightly than tangled computer cables on your desk and long extension cords snaking across the room towards your workspace. Find a way to corral your cords, and if you can hide them, that’s even better.
