If you’re a fan of American Girl dolls and also happen to be a history buff, then you’re in luck as the job of your dreams is now here. The doll company is currently looking for a historical researcher to “ensure accuracy and authenticity of American Girl Dolls.”
According to the job posting on the American Historical Association, the researcher’s work will be reflected in books, print products, toys, movies, games, marketing, retail displays and programs, customer service, and customer programs. The researcher must ensure that his or her work must be thorough and accurate in order to maintain and protect American Girl’s brand identity.
One must have more than exceptional Google skills to be considered for the job. Minimal qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in History or equivalent fields, such as Public History, American Studies, and Material Culture.
Candidates should have over three years of research experience in history, material culture, and popular culture. Having excellent communication skills is also required. Moreover, anyone who wishes to be considered for the job must be able to work independently and effectively without supervision. American Girl prefers that its new researcher should have an experience writing historical nonfiction for the public and young audience.
At first glance, the job description appears to be very serious, but according to Jezebel, this could be an opportunity for history buffs to have lots of fun. The media outlet reports that the researcher could be responsible for researching “period appropriate snacks” as well as “historically accurate sample prints for Felicity’s stays.”
Felicity is one of American Girl’s most beloved historical characters, and the doll was brought back to the company’s product line last month.
The new job posting follows the debut of American Girl’s first ever boy doll, Logan. As previously reported by Jobs & Hire, this marks a major milestone for the company as it continues to diversify its product lineup. More new American Girl dolls will be released this year, including Z Yang and Hawaiian doll Nanea.
