To Experience Real Success Embrace What Makes You 'Odd'

On the way to work this morning, I saw a license plate that said: "Be Odd." Granted I live in Vermont, where many people have bumper stickers that say "Keep Vermont Weird," so this wasn't too out of the ordinary. However, the license plate I saw this morning is perfect in a different way.
Many of us spend so much time trying to fit in and be like everyone else. We compare ourselves to neighbors and colleagues. We want a more important title at work, a bigger house or a well-positioned office so that others respect us more. But is it the title, house, office or doing the same thing as your colleague or neighbor that makes you successful? No. It is the things that make you odd, weird or different from your colleagues and neighbors that make you stand out. Although there is a negative stigma around the terms "odd," "weird" and "different" I don't believe there should be.
