Recent research conducted by LinkedIn has unveiled that industries in professional services, administrative and support services, retail, and manufacturing have taken the lead in hiring for AI-related roles since December 2022. Interestingly, these sectors are outpacing the traditionally tech-focused industry, highlighting a broader demand for AI expertise across various fields. This shift suggests that organizations beyond the tech sector recognize the value of integrating AI skills into their operations, presenting diverse opportunities for individuals seeking lucrative careers in AI.

Top 5 AI Jobs That Can Be Done Remotely

But certain positions are in higher demand than others. Here are the top five AI jobs that companies are currently actively hiring for, based on exclusive data shared with CNBC Make It from Indeed and ZipRecruiter:

Data Scientist

Data scientists analyze complex datasets to extract insights and inform decision-making processes. They leverage advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning algorithms to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations within data, with salaries ranging from $90,000 to $130,000 per year. 

Software Engineer 

Software engineers focus on designing, developing, and implementing software solutions incorporating artificial intelligence capabilities, with salaries ranging from $100,000 to $150,000 annually. 

Data Engineer

Data engineers play a crucial role in designing, constructing, and maintaining the architecture necessary to efficiently process large volumes of data, with salaries ranging from $100,000 to $130,000 annually.

Research Scientist

Research scientists are at the forefront of advancing the field. They are responsible for conducting innovative research and exploring and experimenting with new algorithms, models, and approaches to solving complex problems, with salaries ranging from $120,000 to $160,000 annually.  

Product Manager

AI Product Managers oversee and enhance the development of AI-driven products and bridge the gap between technical teams and business objectives, ensuring that AI solutions align with market needs with salaries ranging from $120,000 to $150,000 annually. 

According to ZipRecruiter, all these jobs range above $100,000. Data scientists have the lowest average salary at $127,128, while product managers have the highest at $153,698.

Many open positions are available for each role, which can be done remotely. Technical AI roles have been highly demanded, but there's also a growing need for professionals with AI knowledge in non-technical roles, according to LinkedIn, which is expected to rise further as more companies integrate AI into their operations.
