CNN and NBC Don’t Push Through With Projects on Hillary Clinton

Both CNN and NBC were planning projects on Hillary Clinton- a documentary and a mini-series respectively, that were supposed to capitalize on the Senator's fame. However, things were put on a halt on both ends when issues arose with Hillary Rodham Clinton.
First, both sides of politics objected to the projects, which would have shed more light on the Senator's past that could affect her standing as a potential 2016 presidential candidate. Also, members of news divisions for both companies also protested publicly on the matter.
Last Monday, both networks announced that they were no longer pushing thru with the projects, despite the hype that it had gotten over the summer.
CNN had already commissioned documentary filmmaker Charles H. Ferguson to take a closer look at Hillary Clinton's life on film. As for NBC, they announced over the summer that they had an approved mini-series that revolved around Hillary Clinton, and had even looked into actress Diane Lane to play her.
The announcements stirred up reactions from many people, including those who belonged to the Republican National Committee. A representative from the group was quoted as saying that the shows were a "thinly veiled attempt at putting a thumb on the scales of the 2016 presidential election." This was followed up with a threat to never work again with the two networks if they did decide to go on with the projects.
Apparently, there were even aides to the Senator who did not find the projects a good idea as well. They expressed worry that the mini-series could put a melodramatic spin on the Senator's life, while the documentary could possible pose a conflict with the news coverage that CNN was doing on Hillary Clinton.
Incidentally, after further talks with Charles Ferguson, it was reported that he decided to abandon the project. CNN later announced that it would not be looking for a replacement.
