A teenager based in Colorado who confessed to abducting, dismembering and finally, killing a 10 year old girl last year pleaded guilty to charges of first degree murder and sexual assault. The teenager also pleaded guilty for charges of attempted kidnapping when he tried to take a female jogger some months before the murder of the little girl.

The teenager, Austin Reed Sigg, pleaded guilty to the murder of Jessica Ridgeway. He did this 2 days before he was scheduled to go on trial.

Attorney Weir, district attorney for the case has said that the boy has been "held accountable for his acts". He added that there was no plea bargain made available to him, and there were no charges that were dismissed in exchange for a plea bargain too.

Jessica Ridgeway was on her way to school when she suddenly vanished in Westminster, Denver last October. What ensued next was a 6-day search for the little girl.

Parents from the area, obviously panicked, escorted their children to and from school while the search was going on.

On the sixth day of the search, authorities found the remains of the girl in a neighboring town of Arvada. Some of the victim's dismembered remains were also found in the home of Austin Sigg's mother.

Austin Sigg had confessed of the murder to his mother. She immediately turned him in to the authorities.

A year later, Sigg has pleaded guilty to robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault, as well as for murder. On Monday, the boy's attorneys contacted the court and informed them of their client's decision to plead guilty.

Although Sigg was only 17 years old at the time of the murder, the charges raised against him were adult charges. He could face a lifetime in prison when he is sentenced after a 2-day hearing scheduled for November 2013.
