Nick Price, this year's international captain, has put Jason Day and his partner Graham DeLaet in an opening match, going against Hunter Mahan and Brandt Snedeker. Other golfers who have gotten new partners include Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson has the honor of being the only golfer who has been able to compete in every Presidents cup. He pairs up with Keegan Bradley in this year's. Els partner is Brendan de Jonge, who was one of the international team's rookies.
In other sports news, The qualifying round in the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, recently crowned sixteen year old American Simone Biles as all around champion. Biles hails from Texas, and qualified first. Kyla Ross, another 16 year old American from Aliso Viejo who brought home a gold medal for the US team in last year's Olympics, qualified second. Only 2 gymnasts per country are able to compete in the 24 all-woman all-around finals, so McKayla Moroney, despite a sixth place finish, was not able to make it to the finals.
On Thursday, it will be the men's turn to compete in the all-around finals. Sam Mikulak, a 20 year old American gymnast from the Newport Coast came second with his qualifying score.
Simone Biles has been the very first American to qualify for both all-around and all four event finals in a world championship since 1991. The last gymnast to do it was Shannon Miller in 1991.
