Rumors about the iPhone 6 release date has surfaced soon (even before) the release of its predecessors the iPhone 5, and the iPhone 5c.

Members of MacRumors, which gives the public reports about what goes on at Apple's Boston Research and Development team  have dropped some juicy hints about what to expect in the upcoming iPhone 6. One of these new features is focused on making improvements with Siri.

"Apple's Boston team is said to be made up of employees that formerly worked at VoiceSignal Technologies," reported MacRumors.

"Apple could potentially be working on a Siri solution that moves away from Nuance, (which is) the technology that currently powers the personal assistant," they add.

Siri, the popular PDA that came out with the iPhone 4, will reportedly be updated and will have more advanced qualities such as better dictation, better pronunciation, and users will finally be able to choose between male or female.

Does that mean saying farewell to the old Siri we have known and loved for more than three iPhone releases?

Siri's voice, who is portrayed by voice actress Susan Bennett, has gained popularity despite being a series of collected word recordings, as a detached, and rather snarky, personal assistant.

"The Siri voices were recorded in 2005, in the month of July, four hours a day for the whole month," Bennett told the media. "When I recorded those voices, I had absolutely no idea where they would end up."

When iPhone 4 was released, a friend of hers recognized her voice and showed it to her. Apple has yet to confirm these reports, but audio-forensic tests have matched Siri and Bennett's voices as a 100% match.

Due to iOs 7's new features that will be giving Siri the male/female option, it seems as if Bennett's beloved Siri voice will no longer be the Siri we will hear on iPhone 6.

Users have found Siri's somewhat "snippy" tone as endearing, and Bennett has a reasonable explanation for that.

"There are some people that just can read hour upon hour upon hour, and it's not a problem," Bennett explains, "For me, I get extremely bored ... So I just take breaks. That's one of the reasons why Siri might sometimes sound like she has a bit of an attitude. Those sounds might have been recorded the last 15 minutes of those four hours."

Will we love the new Siri just as much? Only time will tell, as the iPhone 6 is slated for release date in early 2014.
