WASHINGTON- The House finally voted to give pay back to federal workers who have been furloughed once the partial government shutdown official ends. The decision was reached on Saturday, and is considered the newest development of the issue. There has been a series of spending measures that have been created to cope with the closure and minimize its effects.

They vote for the new law was 407-0. The White House has guaranteed retroactive pay. The decision to pass the law is one of the few times in the whole crisis where both parties have actually agreed on something.

The Senate has still not agreed on the measure, so it is still unclear whether the law will be passed, or when it will be passed.

Despite this latest development, there is still no positive signs that point to the government shutdown ending soon. The shutdown was at its fifth day on Saturday.

House Majority leader Eric Cantor explained at a news conference as to why the Republicans were still firm in their position.

The Republicans are trying to delay and even defund the health-care law that was proposed by Obama. This is their condition for opening back the government. The Democrats have rejected the Republican's position. Republicans are saying now that the Democrats and even Obama himself are not prepared to negotiate with them.

In the news conference, Cantor was quoted in saying that "This shutdown has been brought about by the president's unwillingness to sit down and talk with members of Congress;"

The Democrats have allegedly criticized the Republicans for only bringing piecemeal bills to the table. They want them to bring in that single measure that will instantly bring back all federal employees to work. With the new measure, thousands of federal workers, despite being idle, would still be paid.
