An off-duty and undercover NYPD policeman may have been among the group of bikers who initially harassed and attacked a family inside a Range Rover up on the West Side Highway. The cop apparently stood by and watched as the driver of the car was pulled out and beaten up. This is what sources told The Post.
The officer waited a number of days before coming forward with his information. Since then, he has been placed on modified duty. The cop turned in his badge and gun on Friday.
The cop is a member of the Front Line Soldiers, a club that has several other policemen members.
For now, internal affairs is looking to see whether the policemen who were part of the club, were among the riders involved in the incident. Investigators also want to know the same men witnessed the assault on Alexian Lien that left him injured while his wife and child cowered inside their vehicle.
A law enforcement officer has said that it appears that the policeman in question did not appear to get involved at the scene of the crime. He followed it up by saying that the person in question did not want to give his cover away, even if he was not investigating the biker group at that time.
There has been new video evidence showing that the Internet executive was attacked by 5 bikers in total.
One of the bikers has been identified as Robert Sims, 35 years old and hailing from Brooklyn. Sims was taken into custody on Friday and has been charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, gang assault, attempted gang assault and attempted assault.
The guy who attached a video camera on his chrome helmet has been identified as Reginald Chance. He was also taken in custody on Friday.
