Fans of the erotic E.L. James sexy novel trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey, are eager to find out who will be the final pick for the coveted role of Christian Grey after actor, Charlie Hunnam, has dropped out in the billing.

After months of grueling anticipation, the announcement on who will portray the sexy vampire in the high-profile movie adaptation of the racy book series, Fifty Shades of Grey, leaned towards Charlie Hunnam. Though producers felt that the long and tedious search is over when Hunnam was picked, fans of the book have expressed their discontent on social media platforms, saying that the Sons of Anarchy actor is "not fit" for the daring role.

This might be one of the reasons why Charlie Hunnam decided to pursue different acting opportunities as he announced last week that he is departing from the movie. Hunnam expressed that his "busy schedule" working on the last and final season of the FX hit show, Sons of Anarchy, was the real reason behind the sudden change of plans. Hunnam was reluctant to accept the role in the beginning, and it seems like his initial feelings got a hold of him.

Christian Grey is a dashing billionaire with a dark interest bordering on BDSM, which he expresses through a sexual affair with the book's other lead, Anastasia Steele. Hunnam was casted alongside model, Dakota Johnson who will play Anastasia.

The casting for a "replacement Christian Grey" is already on the works, and a decision should be made not later than August 1, 2014 so that the movie's production can begin.

According to Entertainment expert and TheWrap.com columnist, Jeff Sneider, this decision by Hunnam will not only benefit his career (which seems to be taking on a different path), but also the movie.

"If Charlie Hunnam had any reluctance, then it would show in the performance. And it would have been the fans who would have really suffered. Better to do it now than to wait until production started,"says Sneider in a report posted by USA Today.

Aside from playing bike club prince, Jax Teller, in Sons of Anarchy, Hunnam is known for his role in Guillermo Del Toro's 'Pacific Rim.'

Through Twitter and Facebook posts, fans are wishing that either Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries), Matt Bomer (White Collar), or even Twilight's Robert Pattinson, will nab the role of Christian Grey.
