One of Miley Cyrus' bear dancers claims to have suffered emotional and mental torture after performing alongside the singer during her controversial MTV VMA performance.

Hollis Jane, one of the little people who danced wearing bear costumes during Miley Cyrus' racy number for the MTV Video Music Awards, expressed her shaken thoughts when she felt degraded and "laughed at" after the singer's number. Cyrus appeared onstage alongside a group of little people who were obliged to wear dopey bear suits as a part of the spectacle.

"For the first time I felt truly ashamed of being a little person. We were being used simply because we were little. It felt like society still saw us as a joke, despite the fact there is literally nothing different about me other than the fact I am small," confessed Hollis in a report posted by NY Daily News.

The performance was slammed by critics for being lewd, improper, and overly sexual, and was regarded by many as a "horrific act." This is the performance that made the singer's "twerking," or the act of gyrating while bending down, a ubiquitous dancing trend. Cyrus wore a body-hugging skin tone spandex while she rubbed her behind against singer, Robin Thicke, who accompanied her in the said performance.

Many reacted against this performance, saying that a celebrity such as Miley who has a huge following of girls aged 12 to 16, should not be sending sexual messages and innuendos like what she did in her the said number.

Albeit negative comments, the performance has then catapulted Miley Cyrus into worldwide acclaim, with controversies rising left and right with regards to this provocative act. Though Miley seems to be getting all the attention and press she wanted, those who danced with her suffered not only professionally, but also emotionally.

"After our first dress rehearsal in the costumes with the crew, publicists, performers etc watching us, I walked out of the Barclay Center shaking and crying," added Hollis in the same report. Hollis continued that she, along with other little people, was invited to join Cyrus' tour, which will require her to wear the said bear suits and repeat the dancing she did during the VMA's. Hollis declined the offer and thought about her well-being instead.

"I wondered if it was worth feeling less than human again. And frankly, it wasn't," claims Hollis in the post.
