On September 30, 2013, the House Rules Committee decided to well change the rules but Rep. Chris Van Hollen said not so fast. The House Rules Committee is a predominately Republican committee that allows the Speaker to maintain control of the House Floor. The Committee can rewrite parts of a bill, or the entire measure as long as they have a majority vote. Rep. Van Hollen wanted to make it very clear to House Speaker Pro Tempore Jason Chaffetz that he and his party has some explaining to do! The proverbial cats out of the bag, Democrats are outraged by the sneaky tactics in order to shut down the government and keep it shut.

Now with many Americans on furloughs or not working at all, is very disheartening to all; encompass that with an already struggling economy and it is devastating to many families. The exchange of the back and forth bickering between Rep. Van Hollen and Rep. Chaffetz has since on viral. It is when Rep. Van Hollen says "why were the rules rigged to keep the government shut down"? It was at this very moment Rep. Chaffetz suspended the conversation any further and Rep. Van Hollen stated that "Democracy has been suspended"! Well played with the one liners. It seems to be more of this to come, hopefully not at our further expense. On September 30, 2013, the House Rules Committee decided to well change the rules but Rep. Chris Van Hollen said not so fast.
