Samsung and LG are perhaps two of the leading Korean technology brands today. In the smartphone arena, both have been very competent, releasing more and more technologically-advanced phones every time there is an opportunity. But in the tablet world, the two have been very subtle in producing rival products, especially LG, who took a break from releasing a tablet device for a long time, with its first and only offering - the first Optimus tablet - launched in the market two years ago. This year however, it shock the world, when it unveiled a new gadget, the LG G Pad 8.3, that is allegedly built, designed, and made to satisfy mobile tablet consumers to the bare bone.

On the other hand, there's Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 2014, Samsung's contra-product that promises all the advanced features a modern tablet can have. When the two are pitted against each other, which device exudes superiority? And which one seems to go downhill to inferiority-ville in terms of quality, features, specs, and design? Let us take a look at the four-one-one of the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the G Pad 8.3

In a nutshell, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 has several features and specs that make it better than LG G Pad 8.3, excluding the difference in screen size (where Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is still the obvious winner for having a full 10.1" 16M-color Super Clear PLS capacitive touchscreen of 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution display.)

The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 comes with Android OS v4.3 Jelly Bean with Touchwiz UX UI, as opposed to LG's OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean with LG Optimus UI. Although the OS version is not that old, having the 4.3 version has its many perks when it comes to updates and the number of apps it is capable of supporting.

The Samsung galaxy Note 10.1 2014 though not built for taking pictures still has an upside when it comes to camera. Unlike G Pad 9.3's 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash, the Note 10.1 2014 has an 8MP shooter. Samsung's latest Note tablet also has an advantage when it comes to taking front-cam pictures due to its 2MP front-facing camera capable of 1080p videos. On the other hand, LG G Pad only comes with a 1.3MP shooter that is not specified whether it is capable of 1080p recording.

Samsung's S Pen has not lost its charm although it has been a while now since the company has been producing top-caliber products that come with this feature. This year, Samsung has taken advantage of its S Pen and modified its use with more functionality and whatnot. And the Galaxy Note 10.1 is the only device as of late to come with this new advancement aside from the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, that is.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 comes with 1.5 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 and Exynos 5420 chipset with 3GB of RAM. These make the device very smooth when handling multiple processes. Meanwhile, the G Pad is powered by quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU, 2 GB RAM, Adreno 320 GPU, Qualcolmm Snadragon 600 chipset, which is also very efficient and powerful but not that up to par with the Galaxy Note 10.1.

The best part in choosing the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 over the LG G Pad 8.3 is the 8,220 mAh Li-Po battery, which is like twice the 4,600 mAh Li-on battery of the latter. But then again, the big difference may be associated with the rather larger display size of the Note 10.1 2014's display and overall build.

The bigger screen size may be given to the new Note 10.1" 2014 but the advanced 16M-color WUXGA capacitive touchscreen goes to the LG G Pad. This technology is quite remarkable since it allows users to control their tablet or press anything on the screen while using gloves or any hand clothing for that matter. Plus, the screen has this KnockOn to wake/sleep feature that enables users to do light gestures such as tapping on to wake it up; no need to access the lock key from time to time.

The next one is portability. Because of its smaller frame and sleek design, LG G Pad 8.3 is easier to carry around. Plus the solid aluminum feel and build, give it a really nice premium feel. Holding it using one hand is also possible for people with bigger hands. On the other hand, due to the Note 10.1's screen size, it demands that one should use both hands in navigating the device.

Finally, the last feature that makes the LG G Pad 8.3 stand out over the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is its Qslide feature. This simply refers to the multi-tasking tool that opens mini-apps and yet allows users to open more and more applications without closing the other. The apps may appear one in front of the other, and because of the optional transparency display, it is much easier to locate other running applications that have not been closed or exited yet.
